Bill Wyman's supergroup debut — authentic blues-rock rooted in Chicago, New Orleans and boogie-woogie.
After leaving The Rolling Stones in 1993, Bill Wyman channelled his love of traditional blues into a new project. The Rhythm Kings, assembled around Wyman's bass playing, brought together blues veterans, jazz players, and rock luminaries to create a supergroup united by a shared passion for the roots of rock and roll. Struttin' Our Stuff opens with Green River and proceeds through originals and well-chosen covers that keeps the energy high throughout. The band's approach emphasises groove over flash — closer to a late-night New Orleans bar than a guitar-hero showcase.
For collectors who follow the post-Stones careers of the band's members, this debut represents a genuinely significant chapter. The Rhythm Kings went on to record further albums and tour extensively, but Struttin' Our Stuff captures the project at its freshest — the excitement of a new ensemble finding its sound, with the confidence of musicians who have been playing this kind of music their whole careers. The BMG Music 1997 pressing is the standard European edition.
